Island Construction Manager

Doelstelling
To contribute to Europe and Belgium's ambitions for the Energy Transition, Elia has foreseen to extend its offshore high voltage grid. The grid shall connect the new Belgian windfarms situated within the “Princess Elisabeth Windfarm zone”.
The Princess Elisabeth Zone will also host the energy island. With this, Elia is taking an important step in developing a European electricity grid at sea and achieving European climate ambitions.
The energy island is a first and an important future-oriented electricity hub where cables from both the 2nd offshore wind zone (Princess Elisabeth Zone) and future interconnectors with other European countries such as the United Kingdom and Denmark will arrive.
The concept that Elia currently considers is to:
– Build one Offshore artificial island
– The windfarms are to be connect at the 66kV level (= scope windfarm owners)
– The electrical modules will be connected to shore by means of three-phase 220kV cables
Voornaamste taken
The project currently progresses through the Early Works phase, which will be followed by the construction phase. During the Early Works phase, the successful Bidder (Edison, a joint venture between JdN and DEME) will start the development of the Island Detailed design and construction engineering, including value-engineering proposals
The Energy Island has been subdivided into two main subpackages, as follows:
– Dredging, reclamation and rockworks
– Island Structures
Elia is looking for strengthening its team, for the follow-up and coordination of the on-site and off-site construction activities associated with the Island Structures.
These structures consist in a concrete construction (Caissons, wave wall, top slab, etc..) surrounding the sand backfill, protecting the electrical installation from the overtopping discharges and receiving all interface structures (ducts, culverts, hang-off room, J-tubes, etc..) necessary for routing offshore cables, installing the utilities, circulate and operate on the island.
– Reports to the Island Structures Lead
– Works in a dedicated multidisciplinary team
– Supports the development of the MOG2 project during the engineering and construction phase
Assist the Island Structures Lead and Package Manager during the Early Works phase, for the tasks below:
– Review Work Method Statement and procurement documentations
– Check constructability aspects of the engineering works
– Provide input related to safety during construction, based on the principles of “Safety in Design”
Assist the Island Structures Lead and Package Manager during the Construction Works phase, for the tasks below:
